Episode 1. Final thoughts.

I sort of anticipated a real dearth of ethnic diversity on this program, but I was wrong. While there are no black students aside from the ones dancing in the commons during the title screen and the dude from PCU, there is however an African American principal.

Maryanne, Brandon's new squeeze, is seemingly Latin American but I can't be sure.

At any rate, I wasn't giving this program enough credit. They tried to make it multi-culti and 90's, which is admirable I guess. Dude from Amistad plays a bouncer.

I wasn't feeling Maryanne at first, but by the time she's in the jacuzzi gettin' it on with Brandon, she's looking pretty good. Actually real good. These are some pouty lips over here. She was not benefiting from that Pump Up The Volume getup they had her in, but strip her down to a bra top and she's got it going on.

Some adult themes in this episode. Both the Walsh's are pretty green on the sex thing. Both are given real hot opportunities to bone out practical strangers here and pass on it. You are on the liberal west coast over here, Walsh's. Get with it. When in Rome, nerds.

Some really hokey pilot episode nonsense going on here. Who is this confused woman playing Kelly's mom? Also, what's up with real effort to make the school staff major characters? The Revolting Blob has more screen time than half the kids.

I'm feeling good about this challenge. This was the longest pilot episode in the history of television. Another 11 hours to go.
